Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)'s Force Recon Platoon (FRP) and the Security Element, Headquarters and Service Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment conduct Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) training. Includes scenes of Marines fast-roping from a CH-53 Stallion helicopter and climbing up the side of the vessel from rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs).
A typical FRP consists of HQ element and 3 6-man Reconnaissance Teams. Force Reconnaissance Platoons carry out reconnaissance (green ops) and direct action operations (black ops). The 'Black' role includes VBSS, maritime interdiction of vessels and gas/oil platforms and raids against objectives on land. The FRP and other in-house special operations elements enable deployed MEUs to carry out organic counter-piracy and counter-terrorist operations.
