Narrator(s): These drills are essential to the MARSOF sniper. It replicates realism. They come out here and they train with foreign weapons systems that they may find on the battlefield. They shoot at unknown targets on the battlefield that they haven't seen before. This is the only way to replicate the stress of the real world.
They have to enjoy working alone. They have to like working in a team without getting feedback. They work off a commander's intent, always with mission accomplishment as their top priority and they always find the means to the end.
It may not be as simple as pulling the trigger. You've got to collect information. It's a bottom-up organization where we do the work here and the information that you derive from your operation drives the next mission that you'll be on as apposed to be told what mission you're gonna be doing.
We're not just leading a group of subordinates. We have to lead each other as peers. A team isn't micro-managed. A team is given a task and allowed to come up with its own method of accomplishing that task or mission. Whereas on the conventional side your kind of directed and hand-fed on how to do things, where you have to be, it's not the case here.
The individual that we're looking for is one that absolutely thrives on operating in an ambiguous environment and is master of his own destiny.
