Members of a United States Coast Guard (USCG) Advanced Interdiction Team (AIT) fast-rope onto the deck of USS Monterey during a training operation.
AITs from Maritime Security Response Teams (MSRT) and Maritime Safety & Security Teams (MSST) have deployed aboard U.S. Navy warships for extended operations overseas, incuding counter-piracy tours.
Coast Guard Advanced Interdiction Teams of around 12 men typically augment U.S. Navy Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) teams, providing training and assistance.
They are trained to carry out level III VBSS, which refers to boarding vessels with a non-compliant crew.
