The MQ-1C is an armed survelliance / strike drone that is operated by the U.S. Army.
It can fly 22-hour sorties, day and night, carrying out reconnaissance, target aquisition, surveillance, attack and communications relay operations.
The MQ-1C has an operating ceiling of 25,000 ft.
A typical Grey Eagle loadout comprises of a sensors package, namely the Common Sensor Payload (CSP), featuring an AN/DAS-2
electro-optical/infrared with a Laser Range Finder/Laser
Designator payload, and a Lynx II Synthetic Aperture
Radar/Ground Moving Target Indicator (SAR/GMTI), and up to four AGM-114P Hellfire missiles.
The aircraft also has a communications relay fitment.
The MQ-1C is remotely piloted by a ground unit, typically platoon-strength, which includes all the control equipment and supporting elements to operate up 4 Grey Eagles.
