A combat aviation advisor assigned to the 6th Special Operations Squadron (6th SOS) mans a M-60 machine gun mounted in the doorway of a UH-1N Huey helicopter.
The Air Commandos of the 6th Special Operations Squadron carry out Foreign Internal Defense (FID) operations ie training, advising and assisting non-US military aviation users.
The squadron operates a fleet of UH-1N helicopters as well as non-standard aircraft such as MI-17 helicopters and AN-26 Antonov, C-47 Dakota fixed-wing aircraft.
