The 75th Rangers have employed various variants of the M249, including the SPW and MK46 Mod 0 / Mod 1 variants which were designed for special operations forces.
The M249 is carried by the automatic rifleman in a 4-man Ranger fireteam, who uses the weapon to suppress enemy positions.
