Force Recon Platoon | FRP

<<<video 20 of 25>>>
B-roll footage of an exercise involving the the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)'s Force Recon Platoon (FRP) conducting VBSS operations. A typical VBSS operation consists of the Force Recon Platoon boarding the vessel by fast-roping from a helicopter / climbing up the side from small boats then going on to secure the bridge/wheelhouse and the rest of the vessel. Security elements from the MEU's Battalion Landing Team (BLT) may also board along with the FRP.

The FRP, as part of the Maritime Raid Force, provides their parent MEU with an in-house special operations capability. Other Marine Corps special operations capabilities are provided by those units in MARSOC, which is itself under United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
