M24 Sniper Weapon System
The M24 Sniper Weapon System (SWS) is a bolt-action rifle in use by the US Army, including the Special Forces, Rangers and Delta Force. US Air Force advanced designated marksmen also employ the M24.
Like the M40A3 used by the USMC, the M24 is based around the design of the Remington model 700 (700 long action). Unlike the M40A3, which is only chambered in 7.62mmx51mm NATO, variants of the M24 are also chambered in 338 Lapua Magnum.
M24 SWS Features
There are several variants of the M24 - the A1, A2 and A3
The M24A1 SWS has the following features:
- chambered in 7.62mmx51mm NATO
fed from an internal 5-round magazine - free-floating stainless steel barrell.
- Leupold Ultra M3, Ultra M3A or Mk.4 LR/T M3 scopes
- H&S Precision PST-11 stock with adjustable extension
- optional folding bipod
- chambered in 7.62mmx51mm NATO
fed from a detachable 10-round magazine - free-floating stainless steel barrel modified to accept a supressor
- Pictatinny rails, top and sides for the mounting of accessories
- Leupold M3LR scope
- H&S Precision PST-25 stock with adjustable cheek height and length-of-pull
- optional folding bipod
The M24A3 SWS has the following features:
- chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum
fed from a detachable 5-round magazine - free-floating stainless steel barrel modified to accept a supressor
- Modular Accessory Rail System
- Leupold Mark 4 scope
- H&S Precision Pro-2000 stock with adjustable cheek height and length-of-pull
- optional folding bipod
