A Reconnaissance Marine with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s (MEU) reconnaissance platoon fires a M9 9mm pistol during training.
When assigned to a MEU, Recon Marines deploy as Reconnaissance Platoons, providing division-level ground reconnaissance and amphibious reconnaissance for the MEU's Ground Combat Element, the Battalion Landing Team.
