Marines assigned to the Force Reconnaissance Platoon (FRP), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), move tactically across the deck of USS Germantown during a visit board search and seizure (VBSS) training exercise.
When deployed on the float with an MEU, the Force Recon Platoon provides the MEU's organic special operations capability.
They are capable of maritime interdiction operations (MIO) and deep reconnaissance.
The 31st MEU is a Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) that is forward-deployed to Asia-Pacific region.
