Reconnaissance Marines with 2nd Platoon, Force Reconnaissance Company, II Marine Expeditionary Force perform scout swimmer drills during training with the Royal Nerherlands Marines.

Force Recon Marine Combatant Divers, assigned to dive teams, are experts in amphibious infiltration, including diver propulsion device operations the use of rebreathers.

There are 4 dive teams in each Force Recon Company.

The Marines are pictured having just transitioned from the water to land.

They have removed their flippers but are still wearing the MK25 (Draeger LAR V) rebreather apparatus that allowed them to approach the shore sub-merged / semi-submerged.

Note: the device stowed upon the back of the left-most Marine is a TAC-100 diver navigation board.

This hand-held device features a compass and other instrumentation such as a depth gauge and chronometer.
