MH-53j Pavelow III - Refueling

A USAF MH-53j Pavelow III of the 16th Special Operations Wing refuels from a MC-130E Combat Talon over the Afghanistan desert, 2001.
Pavelows played a large part in the initial stages of Operation Enduring Freedom, inserting, resupplying and extracting U.S. Special Operations units throughout the country.
The Pavelow has now been replaced in AFSOC service by the CV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft.
