Special Forces from the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) (10th SFG(A)) demonstrate seizing a series of buildings on their training grounds at Stuttgart, Germany, 2008.
The 10th Special Force Group's area of responsibility (AOR) is Europe (EUCOM).
The 10th SFG (A), along with CIA Special Activities Division paramilitaries were among the first special operations forces to enter Iraq prior to the full scale invasion 2003.
Working with Turkish Peshmerga militias, they drove the Al-Qaeda-affiliate terror group, Ansar al-Islam, out of their stronghold in Northern Iraq.
When the invasion proper came, the 10th SFG(A), who were part of Task Force Viking, then mobilized the Peshmerga and succeeded in tieing up large numbers of Iraqi forces in the north of the country, preventing them defending against the main push by coalition forces from the south.
