A Marine with Marine Special Operations Advisor Group (MSOAG) MARSOC looks through the scope of a M40A3 sniper rifle during the scoped weapons portion of the MSOAG SME (subject matter expert) training course.
The M40A3 is a 7.62mm x 51mm bolt-action sniper rifle that is in widespread use through the United States Marines Corps, in the skilled hands of Scout Snipers, Recon Marines and MARSOC operators.
The MSOAG is a MARSOC component that specialises in Foreign Internal Defence (FID) operations ie the training and mentoring of foreign military forces.
