A MH-47 Chinook helicopter operated by the 160th SOAR (160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment), or 'Night Stalkers', pictured during a training exercise.
The MH-47 is a heavy lift helicopter used to insert, extract and resupply special operations forces.
It features a refeuling probe which it can use to take on fuel from airborne tankers and extend its operating range.
When fitted with internal fuel bladders, the MH-47 itself can operate as a refuelling point for other aircraft.
