A Team Leader with the 1st ANGLICO (1st Air Naval Gun Liaison Company) detachment assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15 MEU) uses a radio to contact an attack aircraft in preparation for a close air support tasking during a training operation.
ANGLICO are a specilized United States Marines Corps (USMC) unit that operates with non-USMC forces in order to control and co-ordinate artillery fires and close air support.
ANGLICO teams include expert Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and Joint Fires Observers (JFOs) who between them can call in supporting fire from artillery, naval batteries and attack aircraft.
