The 20th Special Forces Group is an Army National Guard unit that has its HQ in Birmingham, Alabama.

The 20th SFG(A) also has battalions located in various places around the U.S.:

  • 1st Battalion, 20th SFG (A) - HQ at Huntsville, Alabama
  • 2nd Battalion, 20th SFG (A) - HQ at Jackson, Mississippi
  • 3rd Battalion, 20th SFG (A) - HQ at Starke, Florida
Detachments from the 20th SFG (A) can be found in Glen Arm, Maryland; Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois and Chicopee, Massachusetts.



The 20th Special Force Group has an area of responsibility (AOR) that covers 32 countries in South, Central, and North America and the Caribbean, the same AOR as their active duty counterparts in the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne).
