Members of a United States Coast Guard (USCG) Maritime Security Response Team (MSRT) Direct Action Section (DAS) secure role players during a counter terrorism exercise aboard the Staten Island Ferry, New York, March 2014.

During the exercise, the MSRT boarded the ferry via assault boats.

Elements from the MSRT's CQB specialists, the Direct Action Section, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) team, then proceeded to sweep through the vessel, neutralizing threats, securing passengers and detecting CBRNE threats.

The foremost MSRT operator is armed with a MK18 CQBR 5.56mm x 45mm carbine, loaded with simunition training rounds.

The carbine is fitted with an Aimpoint Micro T-1 sight, AN/PEQ-15 laser, and a WMX200 Visible Bright Light linked to a switch on the MK18's fore grip.

The MSRT is a ready assault force that responds to terrorist threats in the maritime environment.
