Port Security Units are one of the special forces units (specialized deployable forces) found in the USCG's Deployable Operations Group.
PSUs specialise in maritime force protection, escort and security missions.
PSUs can deploy anywhere worldwide within 96 hours and have carried out deployments to Iraq and Haiti, among others.
PSU Boat Division boat crews operate armed Boston Whalers, known as Transportable Port Security Boats, (pictured above).
Other Coast Guard special forces include Maritime Security Response Team (MSRTs), Maritime Safety & Security Teams (MSSTs) and Tactical Law Enforcement Teams (TACLETs).
